Welcome to the City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band web site! Use the menu at the top of the page to
navigate our site for more information on the Band.
The Band was formed in 1924 under the name of The Newcastle Pipe Band
Association. In 1929, the Band was renamed the Newcastle City Pipe Band. It is
therefore the oldest Pipe Band in Newcastle, NSW Australia, and we are proud of
our history and our heritage. Following a number of name changes over the
years, in 1969 the Band became known as The City of Newcastle RSL Pipe Band.
The Band is a member of the NSW Pipe Band Association Ltd. presently graded
Gr.4. We meet each Monday Night at the Public School Kahibah at 6:30pm. Entry
is from the cul-de-sac at the end of Symes Avenue, off Beath Crescent. (click here to see a map). Experienced pipers and drummers are
invited to come along, as are those seeking tuition.
Watch this space for details of locations where the band can be seen
